International Czech-Hockey School (IIHS) has completed the list of all participating members. While players from seven teams in Vysočina region were selected last year, this year, teams HC Dukla Jihlava, BK Havlíčkův Brod, SK Horácká Slavia Třebíč a SKLH Žďár nad Sázavou will send players to IIHS. Most of them are from Dukla Jihlava and Havlicku Brod. Both teams have 11 players at IIHS. However, this is not important as Bedřich Ščerban points out: „The hockey quality of players is the most important factor. This year, IIHS is for players born 2006. If one team has better players in this category, then it is logical that more players from that team will be selected. Last year, it was Trebic who had the most players at IIHS. The rivalry between those teams is irrelevant at IIHS. “ Finnish players are selected from KooVee Tampere, Tappara Tampere, and newly Uplakers Ylojarvi. In addition to players and coaches, one Finland and one Hungarian referee will be attending IIHS as well. Coach from Belarus will again come to extend their hockey knowledge at IIHS too.

This year, IIHS will be hosted by the Czech side again. Hockey players from KooVee Tampere helped to improve the quality of IIHS last year. Even some of the players got accepted into Tappara Tampere. IIHS expects talented players on both sides again. Bedřich Ščerban shares with us: „Czech selection was completed at the end of April, and the Finnish side had their selection ready as well.” Who knows, maybe IIHS will experience a new Martin Nečas, Jakub Škarek, Patrik Puistola nebo Topias Haapanen.

IIHS will have 46 players in total, 26 Czech and 20 Finnish players. Players are mixed into two teams with 13 Czech and 10 Finnish players. The reason is to encourage players to speak in the English language as often as possible.

Coaches:

Every year, two coaches from Czech and Finland are leading two teams at IIHS. The head coach is always from the country that is hosting IIHS. This year, the head coach is Jakub Venc. He has experienced IIHS over last four years. In years 2013 and 2014, he was a coach. Last two years, Jakub Venc was the head coach. Belarusian coaches are coming to visit IIHS as well. This year it is 6 coaches, while last year it was 13. IIHS has also its own goalie coach.

Head Coach: Jakub Venc (BK Havlíčkův Brod)
Coaches: Tomáš Dzurik (HC Dukla Jihlava), Mikko Karhusaari, Toni Viljanen
Goalie Coach: Daniel Šťastný (HC Dukla Jihlava)

Referees:

As players come to IIHS to experience international hockey, the same thing works in terms of referees too. In 2016, Jiri Ondracek went to Finland. On the other side, over last couple of years, Finnish referees came to Jihlava, namely Rasmus Linko and Jani Vakkari (2017), and Semi Makiranta and Emeli Majakangas (2018). This year, Jaako Stark from Finland will visit Jihlava. Also, IIHS will welcome referee Márk Seres from Hungary. So, even though, IIHS is mainly cooperation of two countries, this year IIHS will have participants from four countries.
